Here are links to Gerry's News Obit followed by two great articles that appeared in the Colorado Springs Independent newspaper in 2002 and in 2006:
Art activist urged others ‘to let their artistic side shine’
You know who'd be a great organizer for this tribute: Gerry! That guy could really connect and rally people.
ReplyDeleteA truly great loss for our community. I remember meeting Gerry in Art Gallery Management class and you could just tell he knew his stuff, it oozed from his very being. You could tell he cared passionately for the art that surrounded him. It was kind of him to share this, one of his many gifts.
ReplyDeleteMiss you Gerry.
I worked with Gerry at UCCS Art Gallery. I just found out and am dazed that Gerry is gone. You don't check on someone for a short time and all too suddenly they are gone. Condolences to his family. What a shock. Helen Kedzierski.

I live fifty miles outside of Colorado Springs and never heard that Gerry was gone. He was the only curator to show my work locally and a person who represented what is good about the art world.
ReplyDeleteHe gave me hope over the years that there were honest people in the world filled with sham and hypocracy. He was man who stood for art and against convention. Gerry dared to show art as being virile, clear and a necessity to inventing this world. I miss his wisdom. Cordley Coit
